I'm spending 6 months in NZ, arriving in May. I'm a beginner at surfing and thinking about where to live. I wanna be able to surf!

So which city if I were to live in one of the two is the best? Wellington doesn't have great Wellinvton, although it might be OK for learning at Lyall Bay. Auckland cIty doesn't have surf beaches because it is kocated on the Hauraki Gulf - fabulous sheltered water for sailing.

You would need to go out to the West Coast beaches Nashua fuck buddies Piha etc for surf - and would need to know what you are doing as the surf can be quite wild. If surfing is a priority go to Tauranga instead.

You will need a very good wetsuit Need a Wellington to surf you surf at that time of the year. I surfed at Lyall Bay in the winter, in my youth, and it was freezing even in a wet suit.

If you live in Auckland you could get away up to the north on weekends, Waipu Cove has some great winter waves as well as other beaches to the east of Whangarei.

Generally East Coast beaches will be a bit easier for the beginner. Although It's quite cold Dunedin has really good waves at St Kilda.

Learn to surf on the east coast and graduate to the west once you gain more experience. Surf on the east coast is very wind dependent.

I Wants Hookers

But surf does happen, and more so on the exposed north-facing beaches. You will need your own transport to get about the coastline.
